Happy Thursday

Took this stud to school this morning....

I'm a lucky girl :)

Funny story...we stopped at Shipley's this morning to get the boy some breakfast.  We pull out and stop at a light.

Chris:  Oh wow...that man is smoking in his truck with the windows rolled up.  That's crazy.
Me:  Lots of people do that. He's gonna smell purdy.

I glance over to the man and the truck sitting next to us when he pulls up a little more, the window rolls down and looks at us.  I look away and begged for the light to hurry up and turn green.

Chris:  Crap, maybe he read my lips when I said that.
Me:  Did he say anything?
Chris:  No, he just rolled down the window, looked and waved.
Me:  Was it a nice wave?  Did he smile?
Chris:  yeah, I guess.
Me:  Do you know him?
Chris:  nope

Light turns green, I pull away and get on down the road.  He's behind us a good ways.  Next light is red.  He pulls up to turn right at the light. Light turns green, we go.

Chris:  Dang....maybe he really did make out what I said.  He had his window down again hanging his head out looking back.
Me:  No he didn't
Chris:  Yes he did.
Me:  Maybe he thought he knew us?
Chris:  I didn't know him.
Me:  Me either.

Moral of the story...when you make a comment about someone sitting next to you in traffic, make sure you turn away so they can't read lips.  I don't know that he read Christopher's lips, maybe he was just being nice, but it was enough of an awkward moment that I wanted to get away from this truck as fast and as safely as possible.

And let me just say....I am not a fan of smokers. My mom smoked for 47 years.  47 years.  And that ultimately is what took her from us at 65 years of age. I wasn't a fan even before Mom died. I tolerated it because she enjoyed it and she was my mom. We all asked her to quit at one time or another.  I still have family and friends who smoke....and if you are one of them reading this, I don't love you any less, its just my preference not to smoke as it is yours to do it.  But, I do ask you to consider quitting.  :)

Okay...I'm done now.  Y'all have a great Thursday!

Hello March

Good grief.  That's the only thing that comes to mind when I look at the calendar and realize March begins this weekend.  I'm slowly getting the Spring bug.  I've been pinning garden ideas and flowers like crazy but have yet to really do anything at the house.  Christopher cut the grass last weekend (before the cold set in again) and I cleaned out the bed where my blackberry vine is growing and raked up a bag of leaves. I wasn't in the mood to fill up a lot, and believe me there are plenty of leaves in my backyard to fill up 20 or more.  We were going to try and start work on the garden Saturday but rain took care of that thought so now it'll be another couple of weeks before we get going since the tiller makes the rounds in Angleton to various families.  I'm thinking we'll have a late planting this year, which is really fine with me.  I won't have to worry about a late freeze killing any new sprouts.  I'm still contemplating what to plant this year.  I've had horrible luck with cucumbers and squash.  Tomatoes always do really well and last year I tried my hand at potatoes and jalapenos and they both did well.  Not sure I want to do potatoes again.  Maybe, if I can get a different variety. Good thing I still have some time to decide.  See, Mother Nature was looking after me.  Ha!

I'm going to finish up a St. Patrick's Day wreath this weekend.  I have the fabric and the "wreath" made out of a wire hanger, I just need to cut the fabric and tie.  This is my inspiration...

We'll see how it turns out.  I love the different shades of green I have for mine.  I think my sister is going to be jealous when I'm done seeing that green is her favorite color.  I have some other fabric I've been hanging onto for many years now that came from my Grandma Berger's closet.  I wish now I had taken a lot more (just to have it) but I'm making use of what I've had on hand for all these years waiting for that special something I was going to make with it.  Bella has a baby blanket that was made using a piece of material from that closet.  I also have a quilt my mom had made with some pieces that were already put together.  I will have to take pictures so I can show you here.  Really are special to me.

I'm off to get a cup of coffee to warm these bones, wrap myself in a quilt and find a small child to snuggle with.  Y'all have a good one.

Day of Full of Love

Happy Valentine's Day to you and your family.  I hope this day is full of lots of love.

I love this quote I found on Pinterest....

Everybody needs a little reminding of their magic.  My girlfriends have been great at reminding me this week.  :)

I also found these hearts on Pinterest...I love them all but I think the first two are my favorites.  Y'all have a beautiful day.

I "Mustache" You To Be Kind

It was I "mustache" you to be kind at Bella's school today.  I found a pack of 3 mustaches for a buck at the store the other day so I picked them up for this.  I wasn't at all sure she would wear one but she was all for it!  She picked one to wear at home all week to get an idea of how it would feel. Girlfriend came home every day and put it on.

Miss Bella with her mustache this morning, she was so excited.  She told me..."mommy, when I smile it tickles my nose!"  She's a hoot! Wonder how long she'll wear it at school today???

Happy Thursday!  Y'all have a good one!

Happy Birthday To My Monkey!

Holy Wow!! My son is 16 years old today.  When did that happen?  How did that happen?

God help me...by Wednesday he will be eligible to go take his driving test.  Big sigh....

I'm so not ready for this.  I want to go back to when he was a baby and just hold him.

Lordy, this child is testing me every day.  We are still struggling with him being "lazy" in school.  I don't even want to say that we have seen a little improvement because I might jinx things but I guess its too late now.  On the flip side of the tests he gives me, his heart is one of the biggest ones I know.  He is the sweetest, most caring 16 year old I know, and his Momma's biggest protector.  He can be so funny and quick-witted at times, but also have those silly blonde moments too.  I love it when he does because he will squint that eye and say "wait, what?"  Its awesome.

I love this kid so very much and will be saying 200x the prayers I normally say once he starts driving on his own.  He's not a bad driver guys, I am just a HUGE worrier...of everything and then some.

My monkey took this picture this morning going to school...

And then before he got out of the car....we took this one...

Isn't he handsome (me gushing)....

I love me some Christopher Michael...aka Monkey :)
