No Passing Zone

I am finding out more and more each day that as I grow older and the longer I am on my own, the less shit I tend to put up with. Things that I used to let roll all over me are now stopped with a huge "no passing zone" sign, the look of "don't you even think about it" or the ever popular "that's just not good enough" attitude.  Sometimes I'm not at all sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.  I'm setting some pretty high standards and I'm just not putting up with as much as I have before. I'm standing up for myself (and my children) more and getting rid of the things that suffocate me or put off tons of negative energy. Pettiness and those so-called friends have no room in my life.  I still have more growing and standing up to do but I'm making progress since my life changing divorce back in 2010 and I think its significant progress, just ask the ladies in my circle, they will tell you.

A Dress A Day In May

I'm trying to participate in DADIM again this year, but I really suck at it this go round.  I picked up on the fifth day and here are my pictures for what was my first week...

Day 5
Dress:  Kohls
Cardigan:  The Limited
Shoes:  Dillards

Day 6
Dress:  Kohls
Cardigan:  Back of the closet
Sandals:  Clearance rack at Target

 Day 7
Dress:  Kohls (I see a pattern here)
Cardigan:  Target (another pattern)
Sandals:  Same from the day before
Necklace:  A precious Mother's Day gift from my Christopher when he was just  a little boy.

Day 8
Dress:  Target
Shrug:  Back of the closet
Shoes:  Dillards
Necklace:  Jewely box - Ha!   (I really don't remember)

All of these photos are courtesy of my co-worker Darlene.  She's quite bitchy in photographer mode.  I told her I didn't know if I could work with her anymore. She in turn said she couldn't work with snobby, out of control models. Do I look out of control?  LOL  Seriously, we have fun trying to come up with something different than the same ole pose everyday.  Some days I'm like, just take the dang picture.  Wearing the dress is easy, taking pictures is the hard part.  I take that back...remembering where I got everything is the hard part!  My memory is failing me more every day.

Anyway, that was it for my first week.  No dresses on the weekends and I only made 2 dress appearances last week and didn't take pictures either time. I told you I suck at it this year.  I'm off to a good start this week and hoping to keep it up.  Hey, I'm trying :).

Y'all have a good one and behave yourself!

Let's Catch Up

I really have no explanation for you as to why I haven't been blogging.  Laziness.  Nothing to write about.  Busy.  Bored.  Happy.  Busy.  Tired.  All of it.  Here's a snippit of what I've captured over the last month to catch  you up...

2014 Take-A-Child Fishing Tournament

Christopher, Makenna and Brandon absolutely love helping out at the tournament every year.  I got them hooked several years ago.  So long as none of them have something else going on, they always come back to volunteer and we love it.

After the tournament wrapped up, we walked over to the Cinco de Mayo festival that was getting started across the park.  The adults had a nice cold beverage to cheers our hard work and a great morning of fishing.  This was me and Darlene, one of my co-workers and sweet friend.  She is a hot mess and keeps me laughing daily.  Love her dearly...

It was Jeff's weekend with the kids so Chris went to his dads after the tournament.  I got this picture later in the day.  Chris standing next to what will be his first truck.  Lots of work to be done but it will be a good (big) project for Chris and his daddy to work on together.  Say hello to Chris and Bear...

Two nights before fishing tournament, we host a Captain's Dinner to thank all the volunteers and sponsors.  Makenna went with me and helped me greet the guests as they came in.  Isn't she beautiful?  This is my new favorite picture of me with my goddaughter. :)

I have also been going to the softball play-off games to see my nieces and sister in action.  This was after a win over Tomball in Round 2.  Me and my goddaughter, Mary Beth.

Me and sister after the last game of the regular season...

Really love this picture of the girls...
Makenna, me, Cori & Cindy

Me and Bella ready for the game Friday night which ended being canceled due to that wet stuff that finally fell from the sky.  I believe its called rain.  Which, don't get me wrong, we need it so dang bad, but it could have waited a couple days.  The game was rescheduled for the next day and went to a one game deal.  We lost to Santa Fe in a heartbreaker of a game which brought our season to an nd.

Aside from the softball playoffs, the absolute biggest news in the last couple of weeks is that I finally took Bella to get her very first haircut!!  I know, I can't even believe it.  5 years in the making.  I have never seen a kid more excited about a haircut.  It was precious I tell you.  She had that grin on her face the entire time and she absolutely LOVES her hair.  She is still prissing around, flip her hair and yelling "woohoo" everywhere she goes.  And I have to say, washing  and brushing it is a lot better now.

This was a picture I took a couple of days before my Boo got her haircut.
Absolutely beautiful!

After our heartbreaking loss Saturday, honey, the kids and I headed to his mom's house for Mother's Day weekend.  His boys were already there fishing up a storm.  The plan was to get there, fish a lot, catch a lot and then fry it up Sunday, but sometimes well laid plans just don't work out.  The fish had minds of their own.  We caught a mess of fish but too late on Sunday for us to have time to fry it up so it will have to wait for another day.

Bella's first catch all on her own Saturday after we arrived!!

This was my view from Debbie's porch Sunday morning...beautiful huh!

Me with my babies...
Like my sunburn.  Yeah, I got a lot of sun between the game Saturday and fishing for a few hours Sunday.  I'm a little lobster.

A very dear friend of mine sent me this Sunday, so sweet and so true.

So that about sums it up.  I did watch (for the first time in my life) the 2014 NFL Draft the first night.  I still have no idea why I was glued to the tv watching that crap, but I was until it was over that night.  Going in, I didn't understand why it took 3 days...but 30 minutes into, I completely understood.  Good grief!  I'm slowly catching up all my shows I DVR throughout the regular season. I'm now caught up on Grey's Anatomy, Dallas, Blue Bloods and Last Man Standing.  Oh yes, I am participating in a Dress A Day In May (DADIM) again this year although I haven't been off to a great start.  I'll recap my first week in another post.  I suck at it this year.

One last thing before I leave...I was in a minor wreck this past Monday in my beloved White Stallion.  Totally my fault as I absolutely did not see the jackass in my blind spot and proceeded to cross a street in front of him, in a school zone where he SHOULD have been driving 20mph.  No airbags deployed but said jackass is claiming injury, stiffness in his neck and shoulders.  I laugh because its really all I can do.  It was my fault.  I've admitted that, I've apologized several times over.  Just absolutely pisses me off that he is claiming he was injured.  He doesn't know what pain in his neck and shoulders really is.  Did I mention he was down on his hands and knees jacking with his bumper after he hit me?  That he appeared to be fine.  That he was a complete jackass to me from the time we first spoke?  I know, I know, it was my fault.  I deserve every bit of his jackassness.  But seriously, you're injured?  Wow.

Ok, I'm done.  Thanks for coming back and listening.

Y'all have a good one!

Yeah, Yeah...

I know, I know....I've gone missing for some time now and haven't blogged.  I'm working on a post to catch up, I promise.

Please stay tuned.  I've miss y'all!
